“My Favorite Green Smoothie”
Well, my current fave is with strawberries, bananas & green leaves of some sort. I have
been known to add Acai or Wheat Grass powder to that mixture sometimes. It’s So Yummy!!! Here is the recipe: One 10
ounce bag of organic frozen strawberries; two or three fresh or frozen organic bananas (quantity depends on size & ripeness);
& six to eight leaves (depending on their size) of organic greens like - kale, collards, or lettuce. Two big
handfuls of that bagged or boxed fresh & pre-washed spinach works great too! I will also substitute several stalks
of celery instead of the greens sometimes. Add enough water so that the blades of your blender will turn, but not so much
you end up with a watery smoothie. I usually fill my blender a little over halfway with water after the ingredients are
inside. The reason for the frozen berries is that winter strawberries are not usually very good or tasty compared to their
“in season” counterparts. Buying out of season fruit in Pennsylvania over the winter months is not the best. The
fruit is picked before it’s ripe & shipped from quite far away. Unfortunately, this often leaves us with less fresh
meal, lacking in nutrients & flavor. On the other hand, the frozen berries are picked when ripe and frozen fresh the same
day. So, they are delish! When summer comes again, I will buy them fresh not frozen. I only freeze my bananas if they are
very ripe & will go bad before I can use them. I always use fresh greens. I usually have this for breakfast, the whole
blender full. It’s quick, filling & packed with goodness. So, enjoy!

“In the Words of Herbert Shelton”
“There
is nothing that entices us with greater appeal, nothing that awakens the desire to eat, nothing that arouses every organ of
digestion and pleases the sense of taste more than Nature’s richly colored, delicately flavored, highly scented luscious
and odorous edibles. He who is accustomed
to eating unseasoned, unspiced foods knows that condiment users are missing many fine, delicate flavors that are far more
pleasing to the sense of taste than any sauce, relish, or spice can ever be. Real pleasure in eating comes from tasting the
natural flavors in foods.”
Herbert Shelton
After over two years as a raw vegan, I am just getting to this point. I wish I had done it sooner,
‘cause it’s really great! I will admit I have been a HUGE fan of hot peppers since my teens. My food seemed to
be missing something without the salt for a couple of weeks after I stopped adding it. I am really beginning to enjoy foods
in their truly natural un-spiced state. Before I became raw, I use to “drink ketchup” my mother would say. Since
I became raw I would make it sometimes, with plenty of salt, pepper & sweetener. I will still eat my homemade tomato products,
but without all of the salt & such. I look forward my first batch of ketchup or zucchini pasta sauce. Though, I will still
eat a little bit of hot pepper every now and then!

“Raw Vegan
Goddess”?
I love beauty,
and have always been a very visual person. When I was in grade school, we would occasionally take trips to the library for
books to read at home. I rarely had a clue which one I wanted just by the name. So, I selected the ones with the best pictures
on their covers. Looking at pretty pictures is also how I first became attracted to Krishna, but that’s another story!
I am a bellydancer, a Goddess worshiper (I believe
the Goddess is a beautiful and special part of God), & a raw vegan. The combination I feel, blends together beautifully
in the name “Raw Vegan Goddess”. I also feel that many people are attracted to idea of the Goddess. With Her gorgeous
image, amazing grace, and unwavering power, who would not love Her? She possesses all this and more, yet still cares for Her
dear ones, ever so lovingly and attentively. What
would a Goddess eat anyway? The most delicious & delectable delights around of course! We have been gifted brightly colored
and nutrient dense foods that are also extremely exquisite. For our delight, there is an array of fruits, vegetables, nuts
& seeds available as ambrosial extensions to our “average” raw vegan diet. Look around at your local farmers
market, health food store & Asian market. I am sure that there are many things you have yet to try. When you travel, perhaps
you can try something local that is unavailable where you currently reside. I find that particularly exciting & enticing!
Remember, it’s also wonderful and very
rewarding to grow your own food, if you have the means. Try it. You’ll be glad you did!
